Ordorica Family History

by Hector.

I once had a project in high school to look up my family history, and to look into my surname, Ordorica. I'm posting my paper here, and i'll improve it as I get new information.

I'm also going to post Guestbook entries from my old website from fellow Ordoricas. My old website attracted people who were searching for Ordorica as a keyword, so i'll put their posts here in the comments.

I encourage you to leave a comment if you are an Ordorica. Let us know where you are, and tell us anything you know about your family history. Maybe we can trace back to our roots.

Some information: Ordorica is the Spanish translation of the original Basque word Ordorika. The word Ordorika means "Field of Oats" in Basque, but is also a last name. Ordorika is also a town located near Vizcaya, Spain.

It would appear that during the new world migration, Ordorika moved to Mexico, when the name also got translated into Ordorica. Not much is known of who immigrated to Mexico and when. But I would love to find out.

You can find some discussion of the Ordorica surname here at the ancestry boards: http://boards.ancestry.com/surnames.ordorica/mb.ashx
